Looking for fun things to do in Las Vegas? Check out this list of the very best sights and things to do in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Las Vegas often goes by the name of the world’s entertainment capital – and for good reason! The world’s leading gambler city is located in the middle of the Mojave Desert, yet it never gets boring in Las Vegas. This neon-lit desert city is the adults’ playground with huge casinos, wild nightclubs, thousands of neon lights, cigarette smoke, and alcohol on the streets.
Of course, the many imaginative themed casinos are a must-see, but Las Vegas offers much more than just casinos. Las Vegas is also the obvious place to go shopping in hundreds of shops, get the adrenaline pumping on crazy rides, visit quirky museums and attend fascinating shows.
In Las Vegas, you can visit the whole world in a single day. Enjoy a romantic boat trip on the canals of Venice, take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, go shopping in Rome, and visit the Eiffel Tower in one day! As I said, it’s not without reason that Las Vegas is known as the entertainment capital of the world.

If you want to see a specific show, I highly recommend buying your tickets from home. Tickets for the biggest and best shows are usually sold out quickly.

One of the best things to do in Las Vegas is taking a stroll on The Strip. This is the 6.5-kilometer-long main street that runs across the city. The Strip is crammed with huge hotels and casinos, each with its own theme and entertainment program.
The atmosphere on The Strip is amazing, especially in the evening when the neon lights are shining brightly with the flashes from the tourists’ cameras. It’s a really good idea to set aside at least a couple of evenings to experience The Strip. It easily takes an extremely long time to see the many impressive hotels and casinos. You can read much more about the best hotels in Las Vegas further down the page.

Luxor is an Egyptian-themed hotel shaped like a giant pyramid. The hotel is guarded by a large Sphinx that is larger than the original in Egypt. From the top of the tall pyramid shines the Sky Beam, a powerful ray that lights up the night sky. The beam can be seen all over Las Vegas. On a clear evening, you can actually see the beam at a distance of up to 400 kilometers.

The Neon Museum is a cemetery for old neon signs from Las Vegas and the rest of Nevada. Here you’ll find countless iconic and huge signs from numerous casinos, restaurants, nightclubs, and shops.
You cannot walk around the museum yourself, so you must book a guided tour. The tour takes about an hour while the guide tells countless exciting stories about the neon signs. You can either visit the Neon Museum during the day or in the evening. Read more on the Neon Museum’s official website.
5. Fremont Street Experience
Fremont Street is a covered pedestrian street with old hotels, shops, and bars. There isn’t much to do during the day, but the street really wakes up in the evening. One of the wildest street parties is planned. The music streams out of the speakers and people dance around the bar counters. Meanwhile, the many street artists are trying to get visitors’ attention with entertaining shows.
Best of all, though, is the big light show that makes the party stop every full hour. All people stand still while looking up at the ceiling, where millions of LEDs display live images for carefully selected music. It’s really a cool thing not to be missed in Las Vegas!
Fremont Street also boasts the world’s largest slot machine, Slotzilla. However, you cannot play on it. The slot machine, on the other hand, has a fun cable car from which you can hover over people’s heads and whiz down along Fremont Street. You can learn much more at Fremont Street Experience’s official website.
6. Downtown Container Park
Downtown Container Park is a nice mall with an unusual style. Here you’ll find shops, restaurants, and bars located in large shipping containers. The center is very popular with new entrepreneurs who don’t have the finances to pay rent for an expensive business store.
Downtown Container Park may look raw, but it’s a super family-friendly place in Las Vegas. Almost every weekend there are concerts, but there are also often movie nights and many other family-friendly events. Read more on Downtown Container Park’s website.
7. Fountains of Bellagio and Bellagio Hotel
The dancing fountain in front of the Bellagio Hotel is one of the best and most popular attractions in Las Vegas. The beautiful fountain show starts every half hour in the afternoon and every 15 minutes in the evening. Unfortunately, it only lasts for a few minutes.
It’s a great experience when the fountain begins to dance to the sound of classical music while the water cannons shoot water almost 150 meters into the air. The dancing fountain is clearly most beautiful in the evening when illuminated in different colors.
The Bellagio Hotel also features the Bellagio Chocolate Fountain, the world’s largest chocolate waterfall. In addition, the hotel is also home to the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, a lovely botanical garden. You can read more about the many attractions on Bellagio’s official website.
8. M&M’s World
If you’re crazy about M&M’s, don’t miss out on M&Ms World, one of only seven stores worldwide. The store is located on The Strip and consists of four floors full of M&Ms. Here you’ll be able to find souvenirs, a 3D cinema, an M&Ms race car and just about everything else that has to do with M&Ms!
It’s one of the funniest things to do in Las Vegas for kids and all those who really love M&Ms. It’s even completely free to visit M&M’s World, but of course only if you can resist the many temptations in there. I must say that it can be soooo damn difficult.
9. Town Square
Town Square is an idyllic outdoor shopping area in Las Vegas with more than 120 shops and restaurants. It is designed as a small village with cobbled streets, charming buildings, and an idyllic village atmosphere. You can also find a nice park, playground, mini train, games room, and a cinema.
Although that Town Square isn’t the typical Las Vegas as the tourists know it, it’s a decent place. I especially recommend taking a walk past Town Square if this isn’t your first time visiting Sin City. Either way, it’s a great place to go shopping in Las Vegas. You can read more on Town Square’s website.
10. Play at the casino
Las Vegas is known as the world’s leading gaming city and the casinos stand side by side. It’s impossible to avoid casinos, so why not try your luck at a slot machine, poker table, or something completely different?
However, you should be aware that it’s incredibly easy to lose all your money at a casino. It’s far harder to win them back again. Therefore, remember to decide how much money you can spend gambling before you get started.
Las Vegas has both a good and a bad side. There are many temptations and many of the homeless people have lost everything because they couldn’t stop themselves at the casinos. Some of them have had more money than us, but they simply haven’t been able to control it. So, remember to use your common sense.

The largest shopping mall in Las Vegas is located on The Strip and has more than 250 stores and restaurants. In the Fashion Show Mall, you’ll find many affordable stores where the credit card will not glow completely. It’s without a doubt one of the best places to go shopping in Las Vegas!

13. The Venetian and Grand Canal Shoppes
The Venetian and Grand Canal Shoppes are among the best things to do in Las Vegas. This resort depicts romantic Venice with replicas of the Doge’s Palace, the Rialto Bridge, the bell tower, and not least the idyllic canals.
The gondolas sail around the canals with visitors while the gondoliers’ romantic songs resonate. Make your way past St. Mark’s Square where there’s a blue sky during the day and a starry sky at night. The square is full of sidewalk cafes, living statues, portrait painters, and more. A visit to the Mob Museum takes you back to a time when the mafia ravaged and committed a crime in Las Vegas and the rest of the United States. During the visit, you can experience a trial with the mafia, try a shooting simulator, become one of the suspects behind a one-way mirror, and much more.
The story of the mafia is told excitingly and provides a unique insight into the mafia’s influence on the United States. It’s definitely a fun attraction in Las Vegas. You can see more on Mob Museum’s website.

A ride around the wheel takes 30 minutes. Thus, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful 360-degree panoramic views of Las Vegas and The Strip. During the ride, you’ll sit in one of the 28 closed cabins with air conditioning and room for 40 people in each.
You can either bring your own drinks on the ride or buy a ticket for a cabin with a bar. You can read much more on the official page for High Roller.
20. Flamingo Wildlife Habitat
Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is located in the Flamingo Hotel and is a beautiful oasis in the middle of The Strip. The lush park is known for its pink flamingos that live in fairly natural surroundings with streams and lots of plants.
The park is also home to many other exotic birds as well as various fish and turtles. There’s a wonderful tropical atmosphere in the park that quickly makes you forget that you’re in the middle of a desert city.
21. Stratosphere Tower
At 350 meters, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest building in Las Vegas. You can reach an altitude of about 270 meters, from which there’s a great view of Las Vegas. Here you can choose to dine at a revolving restaurant, have a drink, or just enjoy the stunning views.
Besides the breathtaking views, the Stratosphere is also an obvious place to visit if you’re looking for extreme things to do in Las Vegas. The tower is home to three of the craziest rides in the world. The wildest is the X-Scream which sends you over the edge at a height of 270 meters, after which the cart makes a drop. Another ride is Insanity where a mechanical arm rotates around over the edge of the Stratosphere tower.
The last ride is the Big Shot which shoots you about 50 meters into the air at a speed of 72 kilometers per hour. If you haven’t had enough yet, you can also choose to jump in free fall from a height of 250 meters. The rides are completely insane, to say the least! The Pinball Hall of Fame is a museum filled with old pinball machines. The museum has an impressive collection of more than 200 different machines, classic video games, and arcade games, the oldest of which date from the late 1950s. You’re welcome to play on the machines for a fee. The money reportedly goes to charity.
23. Paris Las Vegas Hotel
The Paris Las Vegas Hotel is easily recognizable with its half-size replica of the Eiffel Tower perched high on The Strip. Inside the Eiffel Tower, you can dine at a fine French restaurant or just enjoy the views of Las Vegas and The Strip.
The hotel is also home to replicas of the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysées, the Hotel de Ville, the Louvre, the Seine, and the Fontaine des Mers. Another option is to go shopping in French shops on Le Boulevard or visit one of Gordon Ramsay’s famous restaurants. Read more on the Paris Las Vegas Hotels website.

The park has more than 25 rides and attractions, including the world’s only indoor double-loop slide, carousels, a golden tower, climbing wall, miniature golf, slot machines, clown shows, and more.

Caesars Palace and Forum Shops represent ancient Rome 2,000 years ago. The Caesars Palace is one of the most famous hotels in Las Vegas. It was actually the first hotel with a theme. Many major shows are held at the hotel’s Colosseum, attracting world-famous singers such as Elton John and Celine Dione.
Located at Caesars Palace, Forum Shops is an upscale Las Vegas shopping mall with more than 150 branded stores and restaurants. Every full hour, the Fall of Atlantis fountain is transformed into a show of fire, water, and talking statues. Forum Shops also has a large aquarium with more than 300 saltwater fish. Read more on Caesars Palace’s website.
26. Get married in a wedding chapel
In Las Vegas, there are about 60 wedding chapels in which close to 100,000 weddings are held each year. It’s not that difficult to get permission to get married in a chapel in Las Vegas. And you can choose whether you should be married by a normal priest, Elvis, Darth Vader, or another “famous person”.
However, you should be aware that some papers need to be filled out in the city courthouse before the ceremony. So, you cannot wade directly into the altar and get married right away, even though many movies allude to it. You’ll need to arrange practical papers from home, in Las Vegas, and when coming home again.
If you aren’t ready to get married yet, you can also just look at one of the iconic wedding chapels from the outside. The wedding chapels are a big part of Las Vegas and therefore I recommend visiting one of them.
27. CityCenter and Shops at Crystals
CityCenter is located on The Strip and consists of several hotels, casinos, and expensive condominiums. The area is designed by famous architects and is filled with works of art. One of the most popular places in CityCenter is Shops at Crystals. Here you’ll find a large selection of branded stores and restaurants. The area isn’t exactly a must-see in Las Vegas, but it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby anyway.
28. Wynn
The Wynn is an extremely upscale hotel on The Strip, popular with the rich and famous. Some of the coolest things about the hotel are a beautiful flower exhibition, an artificial mountain and lake, a golf course, and a Ferrari Maserati Showroom. Wynn is also home to several expensive branded stores and one of the most sophisticated nightclubs in Las Vegas.
If you want to gamble at Wynn’s casino, you must dig very deep into your pockets. Rumor has it that the minimum rate is $ 300,000, so it’s not exactly petty cash. At least there’s no doubt that Wynn is a luxury hotel with a huge L. You can read more on Wynn’s official website.
29. Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign
The famous Las Vegas sign is a major landmark of the city. Therefore, it’s obviously one of the best must-see sights and things to do in Las Vegas.
The neon sign has stood at the south end of The Strip since 1959, making it one of the oldest attractions in Las Vegas. It’s very popular to take a picture in front of the sign that welcomes visitors to the impressive desert city.
There’s a small elevation in front of the sign that tourists stand on when taking the obligatory picture. But the queue can be very long, and the picture will be almost as good if standing a short distance from the elevation. However, you’ll not stand right in front of the sign, but you’ll save a lot of time in return.
30. Day trips from Las Vegas
There are plenty of opportunities to go on fun and exciting day trips from Las Vegas. The city is relatively close to countless beautiful places in the United States. They can either be visited on a day trip or by driving towards them before or after your visit to Las Vegas. I highly recommend combining your trip to Las Vegas with these popular places in the US:
- Red Rock Canyon (33 kilometers)
- Hoover Dam (60 kilometers)
- Valley of Fire State Park (74 kilometers)
- Route 66
- Death Valley National Park (210 kilometers)
- Zion National Park (257 kilometers)
- Joshua Tree National Park (301 kilometers)
- Bryce Canyon National Park (410 kilometers)
- Los Angeles (435 kilometer)
- Grand Canyon National Park (442 kilometers)
That’s all on this list of the very best attractions and things to do in Las Vegas. What are your favorite things to do in Las Vegas? If you’ve planned a trip, what are you looking forward to? Feel free to leave a comment.
This is a solid list. I also recommend everyone stop by the Peppermill if they want an amazing meal. This cool diner has been around decades on the north end of the strip. It’s totally a throwback to a different Vegas era. I’m always surprised and delighted to see it still going strong whenever I come to town. I recommend the nachos and literally any of their giant frozen drinks.
